The Christmas tablescape is one of the most important pieces of December decorating if you ask me. If you only decorate two things, make it a tree and a dining table. Centrepieces don't have to be complicated to look good. Depending on the size of your table, they may only require a few bits and pieces. Longer or larger tables may require a little extra effort. If you have no idea where to start, then you're in the right place because I have put together 10 amazing tablescapes that you are sure to be inspired by.

1. Traditional & Cosy
This tablescape is full of Winter goodness - which doesn't really apply to Australia at this time of year - but it sure is a lovely table. It incorporates real evergreen and cedar boughs garland with contrasting red berries as well as pinecones. These adorable tea towels are used in place of napkins and candles in empty cans add warmth to the table and a vintage feel.

2. Gold & Classy
I feel like this table would really suit an all-female Christmas party - it just screams feminine and fun to me while being classy at the same time. The use of gold confetti placemats and the gold glitter gift boxes make this setting playful while the fern garland and tall candle holders keep it formal.  I love that these tall candle holders are clear and that white has also been used so that the table is not overwhelmingly gold.

3. Natural & Musical
With a beautiful grey linen tablecloth as the base, this table utilises a neutral colour palette. This is perfect for those of you who would prefer to not have an over-the-top dining table. It is wonderfully understated with natural decorations, including a birch log with cut-outs for candles. My favourite thing about this tablescape would have to be the sheet music placemats. To make it more relevant to Christmas, you could buy carols sheet music and then stain it with tea for an aged appearance.

4. Traditional With a Touch of Glam
Isn't this one of the most stunning tables you have ever seen? I am in awe of that centrepiece. I think this is one of my favourites because of how well balanced it is. The table runner references the colour in the logs which are then referenced in the name card. And the red berries are balanced with the red napkins. The glitter placemat would normally be seen as out of place in a setting like this but because the colour is quite similar to the table itself as well as the menu, it works and adds a little glamorous something to an otherwise very natural table.

5. Rustic & Elegant
I think I could stare at this tablescape all day every day and never get tired of it. This would be ideal for someone that loves incorporating natural elements into their home but also wants a sophisticated look in their tablescape. The tree stump chargers along with the gold goblets add so much warmth to this white room. All the textures and variation in candle heights give this setting so much definition.

6. Light & Modern
I don't think this was used as a Christmas table but it could definitely be done for anyone who is looking to take a more modern approach to the holiday. It's quite simplistic, using mainly white with some natural red and green elements.

7. White & Gold
Here is another gold-themed table setting. This one might be slightly easier to recreate than the other gold one above since it mainly utilises plates, pine branches and ornaments. It's a fairly simple tablescape but the use of layers makes it a very effective one.

8. Less Is More
This is a perfect example of how a table doesn't have to have a lot going on to look good. Easily removable items are great if you're like me and use the table as both a place of serving food and eating it. Begin with a white base and build up with decor and candles.

9. A Coastal Christmas
This is so suitable to an Australian/Summer Christmas but more so if you live near the beach. This table uses traditional Christmas elements with starfish decor, and blue and white crockery. The rattan placemats and textured tablecloth adds some contrast to this tablescape.

10. White & Wintery
Another one of my favourites, this is the perfect table those of you who are going with a Winter wonderland theme this year. This tablescape is Nordic inspired - it is a very popular design trend at the moment. If you're struggling with a colour scheme, you can't go wrong with white. It's fresh and clean unless one of your guests spills their glass of red wine. The handmade paper stars offer a homely touch and the choice of greenery adds to the wintery feel. And how cute is that little house candle holder!

So, which tablescape is your favourite? What are your tips for creating the perfect Christmas table?
